FIBERCOMMinc.'s FCPB 200 Series is a full duplex, multi-drop/point-to-point, dual mode (master/local switch selectable) communications stand alone interface for connecting fiber-optic cables to RS232 ports. The Fiber-Optic Printed Circuit Board is housed in a two (2) piece ABS plastic case.
Located on the front of the unit are the emitters (LED type) and detectors for up to two channels. The transmit and receive status of the channels is indicated by a transmit LED (T) and a receive LED (R) on the front panel. "Power-On" and anti-streaming is indicated by a single dual colored LED. LED is green for "Power-On" (P) - turns orange for anti-streaming (A). LED's are not operational when the fiber-optic unit is on back-up (battery) power. NOTE: Design layout places both Detectors as the two inside devices and both Emitters on the outside. On the bottom of the case is a battery compartment for a nine volt battery, either alkaline or NiCad. The battery type is switch selectable from inside the battery compartment. Four feet are provided on the bottom of the case.
Power can be supplied to the unit by way of the 12VDC power receptacle, interface cable (power is provided by the host) or the battery (interface cable must be connected to the unit). Disconnecting the interface cable at the unit disconnects the internal battery.
